I am a big fan of looking at the sky during the day, or at nigh. Jupiter is a fun sight to see. I modified a webcam to accept an 1 1/4" adapter, then attached the webcam to the back of my Meade 12" LX200 gps. The picture to your left is the result of stacking 500 single frames from the webcam. Then I used a program called Registax

Star Trails

 

Imaging with CCD, CMOS, and other sensors have allowed amateur astronomers to record the night sky with immediate results. Here is an example of a long exposure shot I took with a Canon Mark III 1Ds.
